Copilot in the real world: what actually saved time
By Benjamin Seckinger · 16 Apr 2026
Copilot demos are impressive. The harder question is which of those tasks people actually keep doing a month later.
In the rollouts we have run, the time savings clustered in a few unglamorous places: drafting first-pass emails, summarising long threads, and turning meeting notes into action items.
The tasks that looked most impressive in the demo — generating whole documents from scratch — were used the least. People trust Copilot most as an editor, not an author.
If you are measuring adoption, look at the boring tasks first. That is where the real time comes back.
